Irrigation question

| I know this is a tad off topic but since some damage to my irrigation system occurred during the pool build, I figure it's ok to address it here.
The day before I had to go out of town, we had a irrigation line break. I tried to do a quick fix but afterwards the funny manifold looking thing sprung a leak. Since I was in a hurry, I just cut it out and spliced a straight piece of PVC in place.
In my city, this thing has to be 15" above the ground but I thought it only was for the sprinkler system. Now when we flush the toilet or run the shower, the pipes in the wall rattle like there is air in the lines. I think maybe this manifold thing is supposed to be in place.
Thoughts?

| Is your sprinkler system hooked up to the same line for the house water? I have 2 separate meters comming off the city water line. |

| This is the backflow regulator. In my house this comes off the main line. This would not cause water hammer in my house if it was not hooked up. You may have gotten some air in the line but it should work out after some time. |

This is a picture of either a RPZ, RZP, or DCV style backflow prevention device. It should indicate it's style if you can still read the Mfg's label. Unless your city requires a reduced pressure or double check vacuum breaker, replace it with an PVB style. Google Watts or FEBCO See ya, Kelly |

Para, That won't cause your hammering. When you shut off and drained out some of the water in the house you got some air in. That will work its way out. No worries. You do want to replace it so it cant siphon contaminated water into your system. |
