Pump/Heater cut off in spa mode!

Posted by mideus (My Page) on

In pool mode, the pump and heater will run forever. In spa mode after 15 minutes both pump and heater cut off with no display message. In spa mode without the heater running the pump turns off in about 15 minutes. I have completely taken apart DE filter and cleaned all the grids. Controls are Goodline Aqualogic AQP-8 with Pentair pumps and heater. I did have new PC Board installed six months ago but everything else runs fine. Need some help! Thanks!

There is probably a timeout set for spa.
There is two ways that can be set.

1) Open the config menu, enter pool/spa, and go through menu till you get to spa countdown. That may be set to 15 min. I usually set them to 4 hours just in case someone turns on the spa by accident.

2) It could be in timers, if it was set up as a countdown, then there may be 15min set there.

Check your manual if you are not sure how to check those.

Here is a link that might be useful: Aqualogic manual

I forgot to post that I tried programming it both ways. Manual and with the timer. Tried 21 hours and it still cut off after 15 minutes.

Did you do this from the Config menu, or the timers menu?

Config. menu. I do not see it in the timer menu

One of the main menus is called "Config" It will be locked, you have to hold the left and right arrow button to unlock it. Once in go to pool/spa, and run through till you see spa countdown. What is that set to?

The fact that it is shutting down in a specified time means it probably the controller doing it.

It is set on 6:00 I even made it 21:00 and it did not make any difference.

Well, finally figured it out. New PC Board has a cut-off if system detects no flow after 15 minutes. When my pool was built the flow sensor was only on the pool side. With the old PC Board, there was only a flash of an alarm message when no flow was detected. I disabled the flow sensor for now and it runs perfect. Later I will move the flow sensor to a common pipe so that in either mode it will sense flow and I can re-enable sensor again. Thanks for all the suggestions and help!

So if I understand you, the salt cell's sensor location was the culprit. The heater was fine?

The Aqualogics can turn it's salt cell output down in spa mode. Usually a good idea. I recommend it after you move the flow switch.
