If you have a good thought today.

It's been a bad couple of days. My Uncle, who has been like a father to my DB's and DS's and I isn't doing well. We've been in the ER both Friday and Saturday. He went by ambulance to a bigger hospital that can do a couple procedures that will hopefully help him. He is in a nursing home, was diagnosed with cancer almost 2 years ago. Was given about 6 months to live 16 months ago. He is VERY dear to us all. A sweet man who would harm no one.
They aren't 100% sure if it is fluid in his lungs or cancer. If its fluid they can drain it and will do a fusion of the linings?? To prevent the fluid from coming back. He's been sent to the ER because he can't breathe. He has lots of other problems also, but his main problem right now is he can't get air. Has been in the ER with an O2 level of 50.
They will do the procedures this morning, if you have a few minutes could you send a good thought or two? I promise you there is no one more deserving of it than him.

It is frightening to have a reduced capacity to draw in air. Prayers have been said for your dear uncle, nodakgal.

RE: If you have a good thought today.

Ok an update here. I just talked to my DB who is there with him.
Can you believe TWO ER visits in two days, bloodwork and xrays both days. The hospital here in my town said there was NO sign of infection! Said they didn't know why the one lung was white on the xrays. The PA and Doc yesterday said it could be the cancer or could be fluid.
The big city hospital says he has pneumonia!!!! He's been ill for weeks! Not feeling right and getting worse and worse. I am pretty PO'd at the nursing home and hospital both! If he'd choosen to stay here and not have this done they'd have doped him up on morphine etc and it wouldn't have been treated.

So he see's a pulmonary specalist this morning and she will discuss the fluid removal whether it should be done or not.He see's the Heart and Lung Doctor tomorrow.
Thank you everyone!

RE: If you have a good thought today.

Good thought to you and yes I do know what he is going thru only our was not as serious. DH had fluid between the walls of the lung, kept getting it drained and then had it fused with a special powder, then got diganosed with cancer which I am sure would have been caught sooner if his stupid DR, had recomended a specialist. He now is very short on breath due to a couple of bad errors. I really wish your Uncle the best. New DR. and going to Bismarck made the difference.

Good thoughts going out to your dear uncle and to all of your family. Sounds very similar to what my exDMIL went through a few weeks ago.

He took a turn for the worse, I am here staying at DD's. They drained over a liter of fluid off and it will be analyzed to see if it is from the pneumonia or the cancer that is causing the fluid. Sounds like it can come back in 3-4 days. They have him on a "bi-pap"machine to help him breathe he says it helps but holy cow does not look fun to have this face mask strapped to your head and neck.
Going to the hospital by 7 tomorrow morning. Need to catch the Heart and Lung doc.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, they mean alot to me!

Thinking and praying for your dear Uncle and hoping the Drs can make his breathing easier. I can't imagine anything as hard as not being able to breath. I'm glad you'll be able to spend time with him today. Isn't it upsetting when the Drs don't catch the problem when they should and the patient suffers from their lack of knowledge/concern.
Thinking good thoughts for you as well Connie.
