That takes care of tomorrow....

Moved my car this morning and put it at the end of the driveway to finish melting the snow off of it. Went out at 3 to go to the high school and there is a huge crack across my windshield. No obvious signs of it being hit by anything like a rock off the street. How to make my day darn it.

Is it located where it'll interfere with your capability to see what's going on as you drive?

More importantly ... do they give tickets quite freely in your area when your car is in such a condition?

They tend to around here if the crack is where it interferes with the driver's vision. They take a dim view of multiple cracking in one area, to cause larger obstruction of view, also.

One problem when driving with a crack near one's line of sight is that when the sun is in certain positions, you'll have a glare coming at you from one, possibly some locations at the crack.

Glad you didn't get cracked head - now - that would be a problem!

I developed a problem while driving, today - steam coming from around motor while stopped at a traffic light, drove a few blocks to friend's place, checked - small stream of radiator coolant coming from a location at the front of the motor. Water pump?? Yikes!!

Filled a number of wine bottles, poured the contents of about one into the rad, feared that I might not make the several miles to the garage ... with about an hour to make it. Heater was throwing more than usual heat - but no red light.

When I didn't have another car crawling up my tailpipe (it was near rush hour, at about 4:15) turned off the engine to coast downhill.

Driving by my former home, gratified that I needed to add only a tiny amount of water and I borrowed the super's phone to call the garage, asking them to maybe delay closing had I not arrived ...

... and made it in about the usual amount of time to the garage ... with about a half hour till closing. Aged rad hose had expanded, got weak, blew a small hole. Usually when they blow, one loses pretty well all of the coolant all at one crack, so I counted myself lucky.

They shortened the hose to cut out the hole, replaced it to get me home tonight and have ordered a new hose to come tomorrow.

So ...

... I have about a dozen of my friend's large wine bottles from which to dump the water on arrival home ... I'd thought to do it here at the library, before dark, but didn't want the water to freeze on the parking lot, to add undesirable black ice ... so I'll do it at home, in the dark. Need to do it soon ... for friz water in a dozen wine bottles makes a mess in the car (and one can't get a dime each when returning broken ones).

Sorry to go off-topic on/highjack your story, pawsitive thinker.
