What year is this Tiffany mark?

Posted by morriah (My Page) on

Hello,

Can anyone tell me possibly what year this Tiffany mark is from? Its on a vase. It looks like an upside down reversed "J" with a small mark next to it. It also has a small gold circle mark below that. This is all on the bottom of a vase.

Thank you,

Morriah

Is it a silver vase? What makes you think it's Tiffany?
If it's china, finding what the pattern is and what years itw as made might give you an idea.

Its not silver, its more like a mother of pearl design with wavy lines. Its about 8" high, 7" wide (its round). I was told it was a tiffany when my mother worked in an antique store 50 over years ago.

AH....you mean LC Tiffany....not the Tiffany silver, china and Jewelry shop.
A picture is worth 1000 words....
What is the mark on the bottom? and how is it put on...impressed? Letters under the glaze? Over glaze? or both?

the marking looks likes its been carved into the bottom and the gold symbol looks like its been melted on.

Thanks,

Can you post a picture?
Sounds to me like art glass from the early part of the 20th century....but that's a huge guess without a picture.
But it could also be from any number of other art glass houses of the period...like Quezel
